National Parks Eliminate Some Fees for the Weekend

If you’re feeling cooped up in the city, then this is the weekend for you to get out and enjoy some nature.

More than 100 parks in overseen by the National Park Service will eliminate entry and vehicle fees this weekend. This is the 2nd of five occasions that will offer free admission this year. The first weekend took place during National Park Week in April.

Upcoming admission-free days include

June 5-6
August 14-15
September 25 (Public Lands Day)
November 11 (Veterans Day)

You can find the list of participating parks at: http://www.nps.gov/findapark/feefreeparksbystate.htm

Even if you can’t make it out during these weekends, you still have plenty of options to enjoy federal parks for free. The National Park Service manages 392 parks that never charge admission fees. So pack a lunch and hit the road. Even if gas prices jump in the near future, you can still enjoy the outdoors on a tight budget.
