Your Cruise Just Got More Annoying

I’ve only been on a cruise once, and I honestly didn’t think that it was that much fun. Then again, I was 15, so I couldn’t even enjoy half of the things that adults want from their cruise lines. Relaxation doesn’t mean much to a kid, and the ship wouldn’t let a 15-year-old drink, even in international waters. I spent most of the time reading, which was pretty easy to do. If cruise ships offer one thing, it’s quiet places to do your own thing.

Well, your cruise just got more annoying.

Royal Caribbean recently announced a deal that will bring Shrek and his insufferable sidekick, Donkey, to some of its ships. The first Royal Caribbean vessel invaded by the loudmouth cartoons will be Allure of the Seas, which has the ability to carry 5,400 pissed off adults and a handful of crazed children. Since it’s a man-made disaster, you probably can’t get a refund for your ticket.

Apparently, Royal Caribbean thinks that this is the way to “raise the bar by delivering the next generation of premium entertainment at sea.” This includes hiring “actors” to walk around the ships dressed as these characters.

As Shrek and Donkey weren’t enough, Royal Caribbean will get characters from other Dreamworks movies as well, including Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon.

Just think… they’re doing this on purpose.

There is some good news. The ships will also get 3D theaters.Yep, that’s the good news. 3D theaters, which they will probably stock with movies that you don’t want to see but your kids will yell for over and over. So much for enjoying the fresh sea air.
