I dig Top 10 lists. Top 5 lists are tasty, too. We’re a travel blog. We write a lot of these Top lists, and when a good one comes along, we’ll also try and push it to the masses.
This is a good one. Personally, it would seem that most of these points would fall into the realm of common sense, but as I like to say: Common sense isn’t all that common. Some couples can work through the drama of everyday life and relationship challenges, marriages and children, but put them on a vacation together and its a mess comparable to The Perfect Getaway.
We caught wind of this list from Hotels.com, coming from fingers of travel expert, Nicole Hockin, the mind behind the Travel Smart Blog. She offered a list worth sharing with any singular of a couple to offer a little more bliss while on holiday. Among the worthwhile points, she suggests that you share in the planning, communicate well, take time for yourself while on vacation and my favorite, lose the preconceived notion that you have to go far away to get away.
Have a look at her list, and I’d like to recommend an addendum:
Because travel costs money, and money is a source of stress to many relationship dynamics, consider allocating more money for spending while on vacation, rather than spending the bulk of your vacation budget on travel. Sure, Hawaii is a dream destination for many, but how enjoyable is it gonna be if you’re eating at McDonald’s for every meal?
You pickin’ up what I’m laying down? Along those lines, Nicole drops a few morsels of excellent advice about budgeting. Eat ‘em up.
